2 Exporting Chemicals
If you want to export certain chemicals, you need permission from the International Trade Administration Commission (Itac).

Chemicals are controlled to comply with the provisions of the Montreal Protocol and the 1988 United Nations Convention Against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. These are international efforts to protect the ozone layer and fight international drug dealing respectively.

When you apply for a permit to export chemicals, you must get a letter of recommendation from the South African Police Service (Saps) or from the Department of Environmental Affairs, depending on the chemical you want to export.
